Recently I was having a conversation with my sister about the reasoning behind the formation of a forum/blog based on critical thinking. As my sister is one standard deviation from me on the ideological bell curve, an inner voice kept reminding that politics is one of the three things you should never discuss with family. But before I could gather my thoughts, she asked me point blank, “why is our country so divided?” Voila! She just asked the $64,000 question, and the very reason we need a critical thinking forum. Please see the motivation behind this forum - https://www.sixtyeightpointtwo.com/forum/motivation-goals-of-forum/why-we-need-sixtyeightpointtwo.
Now that we understand why the partisan divide exists, perhaps we should ask who is ultimately responsible, and even more importantly, how do we heal the divide. I have heard many people opine on this topic, and the overwhelming consensus is the blame rests with the mainstream media and its little brother, social media. I'm not so sure about this. I'd like to explore a little bit deeper - perhaps it's the politicians .... and the people who vote for them.
What do you think?
